Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Engineering Technician to join our dynamic team in Charlotte, North Carolina. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting field observations, testing various construction materials, and ensuring compliance with project specifications. Responsibilities

• Review civil, architectural, and structural plans and specifications to prepare for field observations on construction sites.
• Document field activities, observations, and testing results, ensuring conformance with project plans and specifications.
• Conduct field testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, and masonry mortar/grout for compliance with industry and project specifications.
• Utilize Metafield® and other field and laboratory information management systems for recording testing results.
• Communicate field and laboratory testing results with Construction Services and Geotechnical Project Management staff, and general contractors.
• Provide coaching and training to less experienced technician staff in testing and inspection areas.
• Calibrate field and laboratory equipment to industry codes and standards.

Essential Skills

• 1 or more years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials.
• Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
• Ability to routinely lift 40 to 50 lbs.
• Understanding of professionalism and tact in interactions with design and construction team members.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to work and maneuver equipment on uneven ground and around active construction sites.
• Willingness to travel out-of-town for short duration assignments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Advanced levels of certification in multiple fields, including ACI, NICET Level II and above, ICC Special Inspector, and DOT Certifications.
• Field Supervisor and/or Supervising Field Technician experience is preferred.
• Civil or Geotechnical Engineering Degree, EIT certification.

Work Environment

The role primarily involves fieldwork with occasional laboratory work, collaborating with engineers and contractors. The majority of tasks will be performed outdoors on active construction sites.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.

This is a hybrid position in Charlotte,NC.
