Job Title: Civil Project Engineer

Job Description

The Civil Project Engineer will lead technical design efforts within a multidisciplinary team of Civil Engineers, Planners, and Designers. This role focuses on land development projects, including sustainable site design, utility layout, stormwater management, and site planning. The engineer will collaborate closely with the Director of Land Development, contributing expertise to a diverse portfolio that encompasses commercial, retail, educational, and institutional developments. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in civil engineering design and a collaborative approach, ensuring project success from initial concept through to construction.

Responsibilities

• Lead team in preparation of project drawings, calculations, and specifications.
• Develop planning and site plans including grading, drainage, zoning, and utilities.
• Prepare engineering analysis, design, calculations, and reports.
• Evaluate land use and zoning requirements, including zoning ordinances and site plan approval.
• Prepare permit applications.
• Conduct occasional site visits to ensure project progress and construction quality.
• Collaborate directly with design team, owners/developers, architects, landscape architects, engineering disciplines, and contractors.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in Civil Engineering and Land Development.
• Experience with Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge in Stormwater management and Site development.
• Ability to design drainage systems.
• Expertise in Civil design and Autocad Civil 3D.
• Project management skills.
• Understanding of Wastewater systems.
• Experience in Municipal engineering.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in Civil Land Development Projects including site plans, zoning, permitting, and design.
• 3 years of experience with Civil 3D.
• EIT or PE License.
• Civil Engineering Project Management experience.
• Experience in K-12 Site Design.

The office is located in Grand Rapids, MI, offering a hybrid schedule with an average of 40 hours per week (3 days in office, 2 days remote). Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
