Description
• Prepares engineering plans, proposals, specifications, and right‑of‑way documents for highway, bridge, and drainage construction or maintenance projects, including environmental coordination, surveying, and related submittals. • Conducts inspections of highways, bridges, and drainage facilities to assess condition and ensure compliance with state and county standards; performs materials inspections during construction. • Interprets construction plans, specifications, and related engineering documents. • Serves as Resident Engineer for road and bridge construction projects. • May serve as a Team Leader under the National Bridge Inspection Standards after completing required IDOT and FHWA training. • Acts as liaison with private consulting engineering firms. • Investigates drainage issues affecting County or Township operations and performs or oversees necessary studies and corrective actions. • Attends training or conferences to maintain and improve technical skills. • Manages the use and maintenance of testing equipment and oversees procurement of surveying supplies. • Responds to weather‑related or highway safety emergencies as needed. • Works cooperatively with staff, public officials, contractors, and the public. • Maintains required project records and personal time documentation in accordance with County policies. • Performs additional duties as assigned by the County Engineer or Assistant County Engineer.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $31.25 - $35.10/hr.
