My Client is looking for a CAD Designer/Drafter for their office in the Crown Point Office.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with projects engineers on design activities.
- Support Sr. CAD specialists with 2D and 3D designs.
- Prepare engineering drawings for construction.
- Assist with quantity take-offs.
- GIS figure development.
- Preparing water & wastewater construction drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Working with Civil Project Engineers and Project Managers on design activities related to water distribution systems and wastewater collection systems
- Preparing report figures for projects
- Assisting in field work when needed (construction inspection and oversight, surveying)
- Supporting other related engineering and design needs as they arise
PROJECTS
This civil engineering consulting firm specializes in Water and Wastewater Treatment design. They work with a variety of different cities, towns and communities across Indiana and the Crown Point office works with clients in Indiana. They primarily design Water Distribution Systems (Facilities/Plants/Pipe Networks) and Wastewater Collection Systems (Facilities/Plants/Pipe Networks). All of these projects are for Municipal Clients (cities and towns throughout Indiana) and are either rehabilitation projects or brand new construction projects of water systems or wastewater systems. They also do a small amount of road design projects for their clients.
HOURS
Standard work week is M-Th 7:00AM to 5:00PM and 7:00AM-11:00AM on Friday Also the person can work 8:00AM to 5:00PM M-F. Average week is 44-45 hours.
TRAINING
Training will be provided in this position by the lead designer, but candidates must be proficient in AutoCAD. The training will mostly be around the water/wastewater aspect of the job and the Civil 3D software.

Ideal Candidate
- Experience using Civil 3D in a professional setting
- Experience drafting and designing civil engineering plans
- Excellent proficiency in AutoCAD
Good Candidate
- Professional Experience drafting using AutoCAD. Very good proficiency in AutoCAD (a couple of years of AutoCAD experience)
- Experience drafting/designing underground utilities - 2 years of experience.
- Strong initiative, professionalism and willingness to learn. They will be putting a lot of training into this person so the candidate will need to interview well.
