Job Title: Chemical Operator

Job Description

The Chemical Operator is responsible for operating chemical mixing and compounding equipment, pumps, valves, and hoses on a daily basis. The role involves transporting materials using sit-down forklifts and documenting activities according to batch sheets. The operator will weigh raw materials accurately and perform mathematical calculations to ensure proper proportions are used. Quality control checks on finished, in-process, and raw materials are also part of the daily tasks.

Responsibilities

• Operate chemical mixing and compounding equipment, including pumps, valves, and hoses.
• Transport materials throughout the site using sit-down forklifts.
• Follow specific batch sheets and document all corresponding information.
• Accurately measure raw materials using specific measuring equipment.
• Perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division for correct material proportions.
• Conduct quality control checks on finished, in-process, and raw materials.

Essential Skills

• Experience in blending and compounding.
• Ability to follow batch sheets, formulas, and instruction lists.
• Understanding of pumps and hoses used in previous roles, including hydraulic, air, and electric-powered types.
• Capability to operate production equipment that requires more than just pushing a button.
• Proficiency in mixing, blending, and compounding.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma, HSED, or GED.
• At least 2 years of experience in mixing, blending, or compounding.
• Alternatively, 2 years of experience as an operator in food, chemical, or pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Work Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing facility with approximately 35 personnel involved in production, shipping, and receiving. The environment is characterized as dirty and hot, especially around machines operating at temperatures from 200 to 500 degrees. The operator will work closely with a team of 2 to 4 people and interact with QA/QC personnel. The position is on the first shift, starting at 5:00 a.m. and ending at 1:30 p.m., with potential overtime up to 12 hours per day. Candidates must be comfortable with the physical conditions and be open to teamwork, helping with tasks like packaging and labeling as needed. Safety processes, standards, and ISO regulations must be strictly followed.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.
