Job Description
We are seeking a skilled HV Battery Structural CAE Engineer to lead the structural design of high-voltage battery internals and related systems using CAE tools. This role involves working alongside battery design and release engineers on advanced battery technologies to ensure the battery operates within specified functional conditions. As a key player in the Electrified Powertrain Engineering organization, you will collaborate with stakeholders across the battery business to drive innovation and efficiency in battery architecture.
Responsibilities
- Lead the structural design of high-voltage battery internals using CAE tools.
- Collaborate with battery design and release engineers on advanced technologies.
- Ensure battery systems operate within specified functional conditions.
- Work closely with global suppliers to enhance battery architecture.
- Conduct structural modeling and simulation analysis using ABAQUS or equivalent tools.
- Select appropriate solution procedures for complex non-linear problems.
- Correlate complex non-linear CAE models with physical test data for accuracy.
- Perform sensitivity analysis and model tuning.
- Introduce innovative applications and ideas for product development.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster effective team collaboration.
- 4 years of experience in structural components and design in an engineering environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering.
- Expert user of ABAQUS, Hypermesh, nCode, FeSafe, and 3DX software.
- Proficiency in ABAQUS scripting and Python for model automation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- 5 years of experience in CAE structural modeling and simulation analysis.
- M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree.
- Knowledge of ABAQUS OptiStruct, Non-Linear HyperMesh, HyperView, ABAQUS Viewer, Teamcenter, 3DEXPERIENCE, ANSYS, etc.
- Familiarity with CAE tools for fatigue assessments such as FEMFAT, nCode, fe-safe.
- Experience with high-strength materials, energy flow theory, and fracture mechanics.
- Experience in physical testing is a plus.
- Experience with variability robustness and Six Sigma methodologies.

This is a Contract position based out of Dearborn, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $42.30 - $50.74/hr.
