Job Description
We are seeking a Drafter/Designer to join the Substation Design team. The Drafter/Designer will employ standard drafting practices and procedures, with a meticulous attention to detail, to support various engineering and construction projects. The role involves modifying and creating design plans and drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) programs under the guidance of a designer or engineer.
Responsibilities
- Create, edit, and modify CAD drawings.
- Apply standard CAD practices and procedures in creating and modifying CAD drawings.
- Collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Coordinate the filing, storage, and retrieval of drawings and documents.
- Work with extreme precision and accuracy in creating design drawings.
- Plot and check drawings for accuracy.
- Willingly take on additional duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
- 2 years Drafting/CAD experience in HV Substation or related experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Open to recent graduates from a Drafting & Design college program.
- Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Inventor, and/or Revit.
- Basic mathematical skills and analytical abilities.
- Attention to detail, self-motivation, and being a team player.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat/Bluebeam.
- Willingness to learn and grow is essential.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Drafting and Design or Engineering preferred.
- 3D Modeling experience (Revit, Civil 3D, Inventor, etc.) is a plus.
- Good knowledge of industry and technology trends specific to substations.
- Familiarity with the NEC and National Electrical Safety Code is advantageous.
- Experience with Substation Physical Design is a plus.
- Experience with SDS (Substation Design Suite) is beneficial.
Work Environment
You will be part of a dynamic engineering team of Engineers, Designers, Drafters, Project Managers, etc. Office is located in Lake Mary, FL, just north of Orlando.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lake Mary, Florida.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
