The CAD Drafter is responsible for supporting marina and dock construction projects by producing clear, accurate, and complete construction and fabrication drawings. This role involves translating rough sketches, engineering directions, bid documents, and contract changes into high-quality CAD drawings that support fabrication, installation, and project execution. Additionally, the position includes administrative responsibilities related to drawing control, documentation, and vendor coordination. Candidates must be dependable, detail-oriented, and able to consistently meet deadlines in a construction-driven environment.
Responsibilities- Prepare construction and fabrication drawings in accordance with company standards, engineering direction, and project specifications.
- Interpret rough sketches, redlines, contract documents, and bid specifications to develop accurate CAD drawings.
- Apply knowledge of drafting practices, mathematics, building materials, and construction methods to complete drawing packages.
- Prepare flotation calculations for dock systems and develop corresponding fabrication details to achieve required freeboard.
- Revise drawings as directed to incorporate design changes, field updates, or client requirements.
- Maintain organized electronic and hard-copy project files, ensuring accurate historical records of all drawings and revisions.
- Coordinate with internal departments to support project needs and develop specifications for goods and services.
- Communicate with vendors and suppliers to support procurement efforts and identify cost-effective solutions.
- Follow all safety policies and demonstrate safe work practices at all times.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support project and operational needs.
- Demonstrated experience creating construction or fabrication drawings using CAD software.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
- Organized and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively in a team environment.
- Experience supporting marine, waterfront, or structural construction projects.
- Familiarity with fabrication drawings and construction assembly methods.
- Experience maintaining drawing archives and revision histories.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, structural design, and drafting.
- 3 years of experience in drafting within construction, shipyards, heavy civil, industrial construction, structural steel, or fabrication shops.
- Knowledge in structural engineering and structural analysis.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
