Job Description
The Bridge Inspector supervises above-water and underwater bridge and ancillary design, inspection, and maintenance. The role includes analyzing and providing recommendations on field and design issues, assisting in proposal preparation, and preparing and monitoring project budgets. The inspector is responsible for project schedules and the timely completion of projects, managing moderately difficult engineering projects in the field or office according to plans and specifications. This position also entails performing engineering computations and estimates, preparing complete engineering plans or reports, and directing and supervising the work of entry-level engineers, technicians, drafters, and administrative staff.
Responsibilities
- Supervise above-water and underwater bridge and ancillary design, inspection, and maintenance.
- Analyze and provide recommendations on field and design issues.
- Assist in proposal preparation.
- Prepare and monitor project budgets.
- Manage project schedules and ensure timely completion of projects.
- Perform moderately difficult engineering computations and estimates.
- Prepare complete engineering plans or reports.
- Direct and supervise entry-level engineers, technicians, drafters, and administrative staff.
- Coach field staff on inspection purposes and techniques.
- Make independent decisions within a general framework.
- Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment.
- Participate actively in technical societies.
- Attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours.
- Actively observe and adhere to safety protocols.
Essential Skills
- 1 years of experience as a Bridge Inspector - Team Leader.
- New York State Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience with bridge or ancillary structure inspection.
- Proficiency in civil and bridge inspection.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Successfully passed NHI/FHWA Safety inspection of In-Service Bridges.
- NICET Certification.
Work Environment
The Bridge Inspector will work in both field and office environments, utilizing computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment. The position may require attending meetings or events outside of normal working hours, and adherence to safety protocols is essential. The role may involve leading a team and requires active participation in technical societies.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
