Job Title: Biomedical Technician
Job Description

This role supports a large, global organization by ensuring that laboratory and medical test equipment operate safely, accurately, and reliably. The Biomedical Technician sets up and maintains laboratory systems, performs calibration and preventive maintenance on a wide range of biomedical and lab instrumentation, and supports ongoing studies by keeping facilities and equipment in optimal working condition. This position is based in Easton, MD and offers long-term growth opportunities within a highly collaborative technical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up laboratories and configure test lab equipment to support ongoing and upcoming studies.
  • Perform repairs on laboratory test systems and medical equipment to restore proper function and minimize downtime.
  • Maintain environmental chambers to ensure they operate within required parameters for temperature and other controlled conditions.
  • Maintain all fluid delivery pumps, including routine checks, adjustments, and minor repairs.
  • Maintain overall lab facilities, ensuring that equipment and workspaces remain organized, functional, and compliant with procedures.
  • Handle regulated materials, potential biohazard materials, and toxic chemicals using proper labeling, dilution, and safety practices.
  • Calibrate laboratory equipment such as balances, pH meters, and pipettes to ensure accurate and reliable measurements.
  • Manage samples by properly labeling, sorting, and storing them according to established protocols.
  • Prepare buffers and other laboratory solutions as needed to support testing and experiments.
  • Monitor temperatures of equipment, storage units, and environmental chambers to ensure they remain within specified ranges.
  • Track equipment usage and maintenance activities to support planning, compliance, and asset management.
  • Document new equipment, including recording specifications, calibration status, and maintenance requirements.
  • Clean laboratory equipment regularly to maintain performance, safety, and compliance with laboratory standards.
  • Sanitize laboratory equipment and areas as required to support safe handling of materials and maintain a clean testing environment.
  • Perform calibration and preventive maintenance on lab equipment, biomedical instrumentation, and test equipment in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues, identify faulty components, and determine what needs to be repaired or replaced.
  • Support all three adjacent facilities by responding to equipment and maintenance needs across the site.
Essential Skills
  • Experience testing and calibrating equipment parts to determine what needs to be repaired or replaced.
  • Hands-on experience with calibration of laboratory equipment such as balances, pH meters, and pipettes.
  • Practical experience with preventive maintenance of lab equipment, biomedical instrumentation, and medical equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair lab instrumentation, test equipment, and biomedical devices.
  • Familiarity with handling regulated materials, potential biohazard materials, and toxic chemicals using proper labeling and dilution practices.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) principles as they relate to laboratory and medical equipment.
  • Ability to manage and organize samples, including labeling, sorting, and storage.
  • Skill in preparing buffers and basic laboratory solutions.
  • Ability to accurately monitor and record temperatures for equipment and environmental chambers.
  • Strong attention to detail for documentation of new equipment, maintenance activities, and calibration records.
  • Capability to maintain environmental chambers and fluid delivery pumps.
  • Comfort working with multiple types of lab and test equipment in a technical environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working in a laboratory, biomedical, or medical device environment.
  • Exposure to lab instrumentation and test equipment in a GMP or similarly regulated setting.
  • Strong organizational skills for tracking equipment usage and maintenance schedules.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team supporting multiple facilities.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime and one weekend per month to support operational needs.
  • Interest in long-term growth and development within a large, global organization.
Work Environment

This position is based on-site in Easton, MD within a large, global organization that operates 365 days a year. The Biomedical Technician supports three adjacent facilities, all located next door to one another, and may move between these buildings to address equipment and laboratory needs. The role involves daily work with laboratory and medical test equipment, including environmental chambers, fluid delivery pumps, balances, pH meters, pipettes, and other lab instrumentation. The environment includes exposure to regulated materials, potential biohazard materials, and toxic chemicals, all handled under strict safety procedures and labeling requirements. The standard schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with overtime as needed and a requirement to work weekends once a month to support continuous operations. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
