What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bim Coordinator position at Actalent?
Job Description
This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical drafter to join a growing design team that supports large data center projects. You will focus on producing high-quality electrical construction drawings, primarily using Revit, and contribute to prefabrication efforts that streamline installation in the field. The position is ideal for someone with strong electrical background, proven Revit proficiency, and a desire to work in a fast-paced, high-performance construction environment.
Responsibilities
- Produce detailed electrical construction drawings for large data center projects, with the majority of drafting completed in Revit.
- Perform redlines and markups on existing drawings to reflect design changes and ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Create, update, and manipulate Revit Families and Assemblies to support project-specific electrical designs and prefabrication needs.
- Assist the Prefabrication Manager and Project Coordinator in developing prefabrication shop drawings for electrical systems.
- Prepare cross-sections of underground installations, conduits, cables, and other electrical systems to provide clear instructions to fabrication and installation crews.
- Read and interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical floor plans, sections, and elevations to coordinate and integrate electrical designs with other disciplines.
- Support 3D coordination efforts, including electrical system modeling and clash detection, to ensure constructible designs.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to align construction documents with field conditions and installation requirements.
- Maintain a steady pace of high-quality drafting output to meet project deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Minimum of 5 years of electrical experience, preferably in construction or related industries.
- Strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit, including creating and modifying electrical construction documents.
- Demonstrated experience performing redlines and markups, and producing complete, coordinated construction drawings.
- Ability to create and manipulate Revit Families and Assemblies for electrical systems and prefabrication workflows.
- Working knowledge of electrical construction practices, including conduits, cables, and related systems.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical plans, sections, and elevations.
- Experience coordinating electrical designs with other disciplines in a BIM and 3D modeling environment.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality drawings at a consistent pace.
- Field experience in electrical construction is highly preferred and helps in understanding real-world installation conditions.
- background in BIM, 3D modeling, and 3D coordination for construction projects.
- Experience working with prefabrication and prefab processes for electrical systems.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with project coordinators, prefabrication teams, and installation crews.
- Comfort working with blueprints, cross sections, and detailed electrical system layouts.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to fit well within a high-performing, friendly team culture.
The role is based in a fast-paced construction office that emphasizes hard work, quality, and performance. Many team members have progressed from field roles, creating a culture that values practical experience and strong work ethic. The drafting team sits in a quieter part of the office, providing a focused environment for detailed design work. Team members are friendly, collaborative, and high performers who expect consistent, high-quality output at a steady pace. Cultural fit and the ability to work well with the team will play a significant role in the opportunity to convert from contract to a direct offer.
