Bilingual Phlebotomist

We are seeking a bilingual phlebotomist with over 2 years of recent experience in phlebotomy. The ideal candidate will be proficient with straight needles, reliable, punctual, and possess strong communication skills in both English and Spanish.

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, decontaminate, and update patient information.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture process or other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport.
• Store specimen samples at the required temperature, place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label, and follow procedures to maintain specimen integrity.

• Minimum 2 years of experience performing straight needle draws in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

• Experience with specimen collection and venipuncture.
• Ability to work independently in an outpatient setting.

The position is based at a Patient Service Center (PSC) in Far Rockaway, Queens, catering to a predominantly Spanish-speaking community. The site sees approximately 20 patients per day and is a one-person site, requiring the candidate to be comfortable working independently. The phlebotomist will be responsible for opening and closing the site, ensuring punctuality and reliability. Organizational skills are essential for ordering supplies and maintaining the smooth operation of the PSC. Work hours are Monday-Friday, 8 am-5 pm, with an optional shift every other Saturday from 7:30 am-3:30 pm. Hours may vary depending on the location, and candidates may choose to work exclusively Monday-Friday at the Far Rockaway site.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Far Rockaway, NY.

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
