Job Description
As an Avionics Architect, you will be responsible for designing and ensuring seamless operation of the end-to-end control system architecture. You will oversee critical control processes, establish redundancy, and ensure fault-tolerant architectures, while integrating mission control center commands effectively.
Responsibilities
- Ensure seamless and reliable data flow across approximately 20 onboard computers and 1,000 sensor data streams.
- Oversee the ingestion of sensor data, data processing, and delivery of control signals to flight hardware.
- Establish redundancy and fault-tolerant architecture for sustained system performance in all mission scenarios.
- Integrate and execute Mission Control Center commands without disruption.
- Refine and update system requirements as the design evolves.
- Develop and manage Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for data exchanges, communication pathways, and subsystem interactions.
- Drive the creation of fault-management logic, including fault-tree analysis and channelization strategies.
- Validate and refine the end-to-end data architecture with designed system components and network structures.
- Ensure scalability and robustness as the system expands to thousands of data points.
- Integrate existing subsystem designs into a cohesive, mission-ready architecture.
- Provide technical leadership within multi-disciplinary design teams.
- Establish credibility with engineers across avionics, networks, sensors, and mission control operations.
- Influence decision-making, guide trade studies, and ensure alignment across development cycles.
- Collaborate with internal Mission Control Center teams to validate operational command paths.
Essential Skills
- Expertise in avionics systems and system-level requirements.
- Proficiency in fault-tolerance and circuit board assemblies.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- 7 years of experience with avionics systems design and test.
- Experience in ICD development and avionic systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of channelization concepts.
- Understanding of sensor networks.
- Experience with command and control systems.
- Proficiency in data-flow architectures.
- Expertise in fault management design and requirements development.
- Proven leadership experience.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Houston, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $60.00 - $85.00/hr.
