Avionics Technician
Helicopter Services, Inc. (HSI) – Spring, Texas
Helicopter Services, Inc. (HSI) is seeking an experienced Avionics Technician for our Spring, Texas location. As an FAA-certified repair station, HSI maintains and completes a fleet of over 40 helicopters including Airbus, Robinson, Bell, and MD, supporting private, corporate, and public safety operators.
We are looking for a skilled professional who takes pride in precision installations, clean wiring practices, troubleshooting expertise, and maintaining the highest safety standards in a fast-paced helicopter environment.
Position Summary
The Avionics Technician is responsible for installation, troubleshooting, repair, and integration of aircraft electrical and avionics systems. This position plays a key role in aircraft completions, upgrades, and mission equipment installations.
All work is performed in accordance with FAA regulations, OEM guidance, STC requirements, and HSI Repair Station procedures.
This position has no supervisory duties.
Essential Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair avionics and electrical systems
- Perform avionics upgrades and retrofit installations
- Fabricate and route wiring harnesses using clean wiring practices
- Integrate mission equipment (cameras, mapping systems, radios, hoists, NVG compatibility, etc.)
- Conduct system operational checks and diagnostics
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, installation drawings, and technical manuals
- Complete required documentation and logbook entries
- Ensure compliance with FAA regulations and HSI policies
- Maintain safe, clean, and organized work areas
Strong troubleshooting ability and attention to detail are essential.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum five (5) years of avionics experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance tracking systems
- Valid driver’s license
A&P Certification a plus.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds
- Ability to access all areas of the aircraft
- Hangar-based environment with exposure to noise, weather, and typical shop conditions
- Frequent fine motor coordination and precision tool use
