Applications Engineer:

About the Role

We’re looking for an Applications Engineer who enjoys working on custom engineered equipment and supporting projects from concept through handoff. This role is hands‑on, collaborative, and ideal for someone with strong mechanical fundamentals, SolidWorks expertise, and experience supporting custom‑designed systems—not high‑volume product development.

You’ll review RFQs, clarify requirements with customers and sales, model large assemblies, generate supporting documentation, and help guide engineering best practices. This position is a great fit for someone who can balance technical design work with project support and cross‑functional communication.

Key Responsibilities

• Review RFQs for completeness and develop project‑specific questions for customers.
• Clarify scope details through meetings with sales teams and/or customers.
• Create 3D models and large assemblies in SolidWorks.
• Use Microsoft Excel daily for calculations, documentation, and project tracking.
• Support custom project engineering (not product development work).
• Manage multiple active projects and shifting priorities.
• Provide mentorship, coaching, and support to fellow engineers when needed.

Skills & Experience

Must‑Have Skills:

• SolidWorks (3D modeling & large assembly work)
• Application engineering experience
• Experience with sheet metal, weldments, or metal fabrication
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications:

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
• Open to candidates without a degree if they have strong relevant experience
• 3 years of mechanical or application engineering experience

Additional Nice‑to‑Haves

• Experience with industrial ovens, thermal systems, or custom machinery
• Strong problem‑solving abilities
• Experience developing or improving processes
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross‑functional teams

This is a Permanent position based out of Watertown, WI.

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $105000.00/yr.
