Overview:
We are currently hiring an Animal Control Technician to be a part of the EH&S team for a long term contract in Newport News. This animal control program works with managing a feral cat population for rodent control, and the program includes trapping, spaying/neutering, and veterinary care for sick cats.
Description:
- Manages animal control program responsibilities to ensure safety of workforce and compliance to applicable laws.
- Implements and monitors industrial safety programs to ensure personnel and facility safety.
- Participates in monitoring and controlling the organization's safety standards in accordance with OSHA and State codes and regulations.
- Evaluates new equipment and materials for safety.
- Performs surveys and inspections to ensure compliance with the organization's policies, procedures, regulations and standards related to employee safety.
- Tests and services safety equipment and systems.
- Reports non-compliance or hazardous conditions found and suggests remedial action to be taken.
- May maintain storage areas, consumable supply inventories, and personnel protection equipment.
Qualifications:
- US Citizenship
- High School Diploma
- Previous experience in animal control management.
- Previous experience working as a farmhand or with animals preferred.
- Capable of learning, retaining, and executing rudimentary tasks.
- Willing to follow chain of command.

- Pay Rate: $25-$29/hr.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00/hr.
