The Analytical Chemist supports the development, validation, and production of advanced materials used in automotive and aerospace technologies. This role focuses on chemical characterization, failure analysis, and materials validation for electrochromic systems, coatings, polymers, adhesives, and electronic components. The chemist works cross-functionally with R&D, manufacturing, suppliers, and quality teams to ensure material performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities- Perform qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis using techniques such as GC-MS, LC-MS, HPLC, FTIR, UV-Vis, Raman, ICP-OES / ICP-MS, TGA, and DSC.
- Characterize polymers, coatings, adhesives, electrolytes, and thin films used in products.
- Develop, validate, and document analytical methods for new materials and processes.
- Support R&D projects involving electrochromic materials, optical coatings, sensors, and electronic assemblies.
- Analyze raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure performance requirements are met.
- Collaborate with materials scientists and engineers to interpret analytical data and guide design decisions.
- Conduct chemical failure analysis on returned or non-conforming products.
- Identify contamination, degradation mechanisms, or formulation issues.
- Support corrective and preventive actions in partnership with Quality and Manufacturing teams.
- Provide analytical support to manufacturing for process optimization and troubleshooting.
- Evaluate supplier materials and support incoming material qualification.
- Assist with material change management and equivalency assessments.
- Maintain accurate laboratory documentation, reports, and test methods.
- Ensure compliance with internal quality systems and external standards (e.g., IATF, ISO 9001).
- Support regulatory and environmental initiatives (e.g., REACH, RoHS, IMDS).
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field.
- Strong foundation in analytical chemistry principles.
- Hands-on experience with modern analytical instrumentation.
- Ability to analyze complex data sets and communicate results clearly.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience working in a lab environment with proper safety practices.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
