Materials Testing/Inspection Field Technician
Location: Tigard, OR (Field-based across Portland Metro and surrounding areas)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Varies (day shifts, occasional nights/weekends)
Compensation: Hourly Overtime Mileage
Job Summary:
Field Technicians collect and test construction materials—such as concrete, asphalt, and soils—on active job sites. This role is hands-on, ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, solving problems, and ensuring safety and compliance on projects of all sizes.
Responsibilities:
- Perform field testing of soil, concrete, and asphalt
- Use nuclear density gauge and other field equipment
- Prepare and deliver samples to the lab as needed
- Complete daily field reports accurately and thoroughly
- Communicate with clients and project supervisors onsite
- Follow all ASTM and AASHTO procedures and safety protocols
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current certifications (preferred but not required):
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Tech Grade I
- WAQTC or ODOT Compaction / Density certifications
- Nuclear Gauge Safety Training
- ICC certifications
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying conditions
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and attention to detail
- Willingness to learn and grow within the company
