Our client, a well-established engineering consulting firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Transmission Line Engineer to lead high-voltage transmission projects, performing detailed design and modeling using PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE while developing key engineering deliverables. This role includes overseeing design documentation, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams while supporting field activities and risk mitigation. The ideal candidate will manage full project lifecycles, interface with utility clients and ensure delivery meets schedule, budget, and quality expectations. Candidates must have a PE license, strong expertise in PLS-CADD/PLS-POLE, and experience with 69kV systems in utility or EPC environments. This full-time position is located in Walnut Creek, CA and/or Sacramento, CA.
Pay range: $165,000 - $180,000

- Perform detailed design and modeling using PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE
- Develop engineering deliverables including routing, profiles, structure loading, and sag-tension calculations
- Review and oversee construction packages and design documentation
- Ensure compliance with client standards and industry codes (e.g., NESC)
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, structural, substation)
- Support construction and field activities as needed
- Identify technical risks early and provide mitigation solutions
- Support full lifecycle project execution from concept through delivery
- Interface directly with utility clients
- Participate in project status meetings and technical reviews
- Ensure deliverables meet schedule, budget, and quality expectations
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and designers
- Provide technical guidance and quality control oversight
- Support hiring and team development initiatives
- Contribute to internal engineering best practices
- 7–15 years of transmission line engineering experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license REQUIRED
- Strong experience with PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE
- Experience with 69kV transmission systems
- Ability to lead technical efforts while remaining hands-on
- Experience in utility or EPC transmission engineering environments
- Experience serving as Engineer of Record (preferred)
- Experience supporting reconductoring or maintenance programs (preferred)
- Prior experience working with large utilities (preferred)
