Summary: The Program Coordinator, Bariatric Accreditation Program provides support and guidance to applicant centers, surgeon reviewers, committee members, and the public at large regarding all aspects of the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) accreditation process. Responsibilities include interacting with customers, surgeon reviewers, program leadership, and other ACS departments through both written and verbal communications to guide applicant centers through the application process (from initial application, contract, invoicing through site review, accreditation, and maintenance of accreditation).

This exempt position will report to the Program Manager, MBSAQIP, in the Division of Research and Optimal Patient Care. It is based in our Chicago office and is a hybrid role: 3 days per week in the office/2 days per week remote.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $55,000 – $60,000 (commensurate with related experience).

Responsibilities

  • Provides application consultation to centers' leadership and program staff at applicant centers with regard to MBSAQIP standards, requirements for accreditation, and application processes and protocols.
  • Manages a portfolio of approximately 200-250 centers (with a total of 50-60 active centers per cycle) to facilitate all steps of the accreditation process from initial application to full accreditation. Reviews all application materials to ensure eligibility and compliance with accreditation standards prior to site verification visits. Communicates standards deficiencies to participating centers and manages requests for additional supporting documentation between the center and MBSAQIP leadership.
  • Manages center records via an IT platform (Aptify) and provides official notification of accreditation designation to centers, as well as updates regarding centers' accreditation status to internal and external contacts.
  • Provides general administrative support to staff and committees. Supports programmatic development of the MBSAQIP, including the development of policies and procedures for effective administration of the program. Acts as liaison between program leadership, committees, and surgeon reviewers to relay any changes in policy, accreditation standards, or verification practices.
  • Represents MBSAQIP during local and national meetings to provide informational support, didactic training, or other duties as assigned.

Required Education And/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of professional office experience is preferred; experience in a healthcare setting is a plus.
  • Exposure to quality improvement (QI)/performance improvement (PI) principles is a plus.
  • Must possess strong business writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be tech savvy and able to learn new software applications.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat required.
