About This Role

You will provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where young children can learn, grow, and develop. You will be responsible for meeting the individual needs of each child while supporting their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.

You will create age-appropriate activities that encourage curiosity, exploration, and early learning while maintaining a consistent daily routine. You will also build positive relationships with children and families, communicate regularly with parents and caregivers, and work collaboratively with fellow teachers to provide quality care.

The ideal candidate is patient, dependable, caring, and passionate about working with young children. You should be comfortable with the hands-on responsibilities of caring for one-year-olds, including diapering, feeding, comforting, supervising, and helping children develop important early-life skills

What You'll Do

  • Provide attentive, loving, and responsive care to children ages 12–24 months.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and developmentally appropriate classroom.
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate learning and play activities.
  • Support children's language, motor, social, and emotional development.
  • Follow daily schedules, classroom routines, and health and safety procedures.
  • Assist with diapering, feeding, naps, and other daily care needs.
  • Communicate professionally and consistently with families.
  • Observe and document children's growth and developmental milestones.
  • Work as part of a team to create a positive classroom environment.
  • Provide encouragement, comfort, and positive guidance throughout the day.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years old and able to read and write.

Have at least one of these:

  • High school diploma
  • GED/high school equivalency credential recognized by South Carolina
  • Certificate of Completion
  • South Carolina High School Employability Credential

Complete 15 hours of health and safety training within 30 days of employment.

Complete the required state/federal background checks, including applicable criminal, sex-offender, and child-abuse/neglect registry checks.

If you're a new hire without the required prior experience, you must be directly supervised for at least 30 days by an experienced caregiver and until the required health-and-safety training is completed.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience working with infants or toddlers is preferred but may not be required for qualified entry-level candidates.

CPR and First Aid certification preferred

Pediatric CPR/First Aid training may be required based on center policy and staffing requirements.

Previous experience working with infants or toddlers in a daycare, preschool, or childcare setting.

Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or coursework in Early Childhood Education.

Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification.

Knowledge of age-appropriate activities and early childhood development.

Experience creating and following daily classroom routines and lesson plans.

Familiarity with South Carolina childcare regulations and licensing requirements.

Experience communicating with parents and families in a professional and positive manner.

Experience documenting children's developmental milestones and daily activities.

A warm, patient, and nurturing personality with a genuine love for working with young children.

Strong teamwork, communication, organization, and time-management skills.

Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus.

Flexibility and willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development.

A positive attitude and ability to remain calm and patient in a busy classroom environment.
