Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and responsible Bus Driver to join our team! In this vital role, you will ensure the safe and efficient transportation of students and staff, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations. Your energetic approach and excellent communication skills will help create a positive experience for every passenger while maintaining the highest standards of safety and service.
Duties
- Safely operate school buses or school vans according to schedule and route plans
- Assist students and passengers with boarding and disembarking
- Follow all traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations to ensure passenger safety at all times
- Respond quickly to traffic changes or emergencies with appropriate emergency stop procedures and defensive driving techniques
- Maintain discipline among students or passengers through effective behavior management strategies
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle mechanical safety and report any issues promptly
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with passengers, parents, or staff, including multilingual support when applicable
Qualifications
- Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, or transit bus operation
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for passenger transport
- Knowledge of traffic laws, emergency response procedures for transportation, and vehicle codes
- First aid certification (CPR preferred) and familiarity with emergency stop procedures
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks related to vehicle operation and passenger assistance
- Experience working with children or in childcare environments is highly desirable
- Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus
- Knowledge of school policies, student discipline techniques, and behavior management strategies
- Mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems for basic troubleshooting is advantageous
