Position Overview

As the Inventory Specialist at Acme Lock & Door, you'll be the engine behind our warehouse operations, receiving, organizing, and moving parts and materials so our technicians always have what they need, when they need it. You'll manage receiving and returns across two building areas, build and kit job boxes ahead of upcoming jobs, and help keep our inventory accurate and audit-ready. You'll balance competing priorities, adapt as our inventory processes continue to evolve, and bring a steady, detail-oriented approach to keeping parts moving.

Key Responsibilities

The Inventory Specialist will drive operational excellence and technician readiness by executing across the following areas:

  • Receiving and returns: Receive inbound materials across both building areas, checking accuracy against packing lists and purchase orders, flagging damaged material to the purchasing team, and shipping returns out promptly to avoid backlog.
  • Kitting and job preparation: Build job boxes and kit jobs by pulling the correct parts ahead of technician need, ensuring materials are ready before work begins.
  • Quality control: Perform quality reviews on kitted materials and inventory records, catching errors before jobs leave the warehouse.
  • Inventory accuracy: Maintain accurate, audit-ready inventory records and perform cycle counts and inventory audits on a regular cadence.
  • Multi-area coverage: Comfortably manage inventory across multiple physical storage areas without dropping coverage in either.
  • Process adaptability: Operate effectively amid ongoing inventory process changes, bringing a flexible, problem-solving mindset to shifting priorities.
  • Cross-team coordination: Communicate clearly with technicians, purchasing, and leadership to keep materials flowing and issues resolved quickly.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of warehouse experience, including receiving, shipping, cycle counting, and material handling.
  • Comfortable learning new inventory management software and systems; no specific platform experience required.
  • Experience in the locksmith, door, access control, or security integration industry are ideal; backgrounds in construction, HVAC, plumbing, or electrical trades are also a plus.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Clear, professional communicator who can coordinate effectively across teams.
  • Independent decision-maker and problem-solver who takes ownership of outcomes.
  • Detail-oriented, with a strong focus on accuracy and quality control.

Core Competencies

  • Adaptability: Comfortable with evolving processes and shifting priorities rather than needing everything fully documented.
  • Reliability: Understands that late receiving or returns ripple through the whole team, and shows up dependable and on time.
  • Ownership: Takes initiative and follows through without needing constant direction.
  • Collaboration: Pitches in wherever needed and works well across technicians, purchasing, and leadership.
  • Attention to detail: Brings a steady, thorough approach to counts, kitting, and quality checks.
  • Cultural alignment: Embodies Cobalt's core values of unwavering stewardship, excellence in action, seeking and telling the truth, love of learning, and enjoying the ride.

Compensation and Timing

Compensation for this role is $20-$24 per hour, commensurate with experience. Acme Lock & Door offers a comprehensive benefits package including healthcare, 401(k) match, and flexible time off.
