Overview
seeking a highly motivated and experienced Systems Engineer to support the KC-46 Aerial Refueling Systems program in Everett, Washington. This role is part of a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for the design, development, testing, certification, and lifecycle support of advanced aerial refueling systems.
The selected candidate will serve as a system design focal for critical components or subsystems of the KC-46 platform, ensuring successful integration across mechanical systems, software interfaces, suppliers, and internal engineering teams. This role requires strong systems engineering expertise, technical leadership, and the ability to manage complex aerospace systems across their full lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support system-level engineering design, development, analysis, testing, and certification of aerial refueling hardware systems.
- Ensure seamless integration of hardware and software across aircraft systems throughout the product lifecycle.
- Develop, validate, and verify system-level requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on design, integration, testing, and operational readiness.
- Develop test plans and procedures supporting certification activities.
- Coordinate system configuration management and system architecture definition.
- Lead or support execution of verification and validation (V&V) activities to ensure compliance with system requirements.
- Perform technical trade studies and support proposal development for system upgrades and new capabilities.
- Coordinate FAA, military certification, and aircraft airworthiness activities.
- Interface with specialty engineering teams (safety, electromagnetic emissions, cybersecurity, etc.).
- Provide troubleshooting support for production, lab, and aircraft-level technical issues.
- Conduct Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations for system issues.
- Work closely with suppliers and subcontractors for technical coordination and system integration.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Data Science, or Computer Science.
- 5 years of related engineering experience or equivalent education/experience.
- At least 1 year of experience in:
- Requirements definition, verification, or validation
- Mechanical systems engineering
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- 9 years of engineering experience (or advanced degrees with equivalent experience).
- Experience in:
- Data analysis and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA)
- Supplier / subcontract technical management
- Aircraft maintenance requirements or airworthiness certification
- Hardware and software system integration
