Location: Auburn, WA / Everett, WA (Onsite)
Duration: 6 Months Contract (Possible Extension)
Shift: 1st Shift (6:30 AM – 3:00 PM)
Pay Rate: Up to $63/hr
Overview
We are seeking experienced Numerical Control Programmers (NC Programmers) to support aerospace structural manufacturing operations. This role will focus on developing, validating, and optimizing CNC machining programs for complex aerospace components used on commercial aircraft.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with 5-axis CNC programming, CATIA V5, Vericut, and aerospace machining processes involving aluminum and hard-metal parts. This position requires close collaboration with manufacturing engineering, tooling, planning, and shop-floor teams to ensure high-quality and efficient production.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, verify, and revise Machine Control Data (MCD), tooling geometry, and setup documentation for multi-axis CNC machines.
- Develop and optimize NC programs for complex aerospace components using CATIA V5.
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, manufacturing plans, and process requirements.
- Define machining strategies, tooling selections, fixturing methods, and setup sequences.
- Create detailed setup sheets and operator instructions to support safe and efficient machine operation.
- Utilize Vericut and other simulation tools to validate programs and prevent collisions or machining errors.
- Support first article inspections (FAI), production trials, and shop-floor troubleshooting activities.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineering, tooling, planning, and machine operators to improve cycle times and reduce scrap.
- Maintain configuration control and revision management of all NC programs and documentation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to machining efficiency and producibility.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of NC programming experience in a production machining environment.
- Hands-on experience programming 5-axis CNC machines.
- Strong aerospace machining experience with aluminum and hard-metal components.
- Proficiency in CATIA V5 NC Programming.
- Experience with Vericut or similar NC simulation and verification software.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.
- Experience creating setup documentation and operator instructions.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing custom fixtures and tooling solutions.
- Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing standards and first article inspection requirements.
- Experience defining machining strategies for complex part families.
- Familiarity with additional CAM systems and post-processors.
- Demonstrated success improving machining efficiency, cycle times, and overall producibility.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Education
- Associate Degree plus relevant experience, or
- Bachelor's Degree with related experience, or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Typically 5 years of related NC programming experience.
