Job Title: Bioinformatics Engineer
Duration: 12 months’ contract

Type of Position: Only on W2 basis
Description
- We are seeking a Bioinformatics Engineer with strong experience in long-read genome assembly to support the development of telomere-to-telomere (T2T) reference genomes for non-model organisms.
Key Requirements:
• PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or related field
• Hands-on experience with de novo genome assembly using PacBio HiFi and/or Oxford Nanopore data
• Expertise with assembly tools such as Hifiasm, Verkko, Flye, or Canu
• Strong assembly QC and validation experience (BUSCO, QUAST, Merqury, etc.)
• Proficiency in Python and/or Bash scripting in Linux environments
• Experience with workflow tools (Nextflow, Snakemake, or WDL)
• Experience running large genomics workloads on HPC and AWS environments
Preferred:
• Non-model organism genome assembly experience
• Haplotype-resolved assemblies, Hi-C/Omni-C, Strand-seq, or optical mapping
• T2T genome assembly and chromosome-scale scaffolding experience
• Publications, reference genome releases, or community datasets
The pay rate range for this role is $75 - $80/hr on w2
