Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Machinist role located in Scranton, PA. The Machinist will set up and operate manual and CNC machines to produce precision components for drill rigs and tooling, following engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. Daily responsibilities include interpreting prints, selecting appropriate tooling and materials, performing measurements and inspections, and maintaining tight tolerances. The role also involves routine equipment maintenance, troubleshooting machining issues, collaborating with engineering and production teams, and completing production documentation. The Machinist will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, safety, and product quality in a manufacturing environment.
Qualifications
- Experience in operating manual and CNC machines (e.g., lathes, mills, drill presses) and setting up tooling and fixtures.
- Ability to read and interpret prints, technical drawings, and work instructions, with strong attention to detail and measurement accuracy.
- Knowledge of machining processes, cutting speeds and feeds, material properties, and basic shop math.
- Skills in using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and performing in-process quality checks.
- Understanding of safety practices in a machine shop, including proper PPE use, equipment handling, and housekeeping standards.
- Prior experience in heavy manufacturing or industrial equipment production is beneficial; experience in drilling or related industries is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing production priorities.
- Technical or vocational training in machining or a related field is preferred.
Pay: $24.75 - $28.03 per hour
