About The Role
As the Safety and Compliance Officer, one will work closely with other members of the autonomous driving validation operations to institute a culture of safety and compliance, supported by a robust strategy, systems and processes for ensuring the highest levels of safety and compliance across our Operations. These will at all times support and be aligned with the Gold Standards at Safety and processes of our partner organisation. Key Expectations from the Role
- Establishing a strategy and protocols to ensure compliance with DOT, Non DOT regulatory and partner safety and compliance standards and mitigate operational risks.
- Evaluate the current processes, practices and identify the risks and opportunities to transform into best in class
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams to establish and maintain QMS, ISO, EHS quality assurance processes, including regular audits, inspections, and assessments to identify potential safety hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Define the processes, make them measurable and establish qualitative and quantitative outcomes
- Serve as a safety advocate within the organization, fostering a culture of safety awareness and accountability among employees and stakeholders through training, communication, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct analysis of safety data and performance metrics to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement, and develop strategies to enhance safety outcomes and reduce incidents.
- Focus on the emerging trends, technologies, and regulatory changes in the market, and overlay them onto the Operations safety landscape, and provide strategic guidance and recommendations to senior management to ensure compliance and maintain a competitive edge.
- Be a liaison with regulatory agencies, industry associations, and other internal & external stakeholders to represent the company's interests and influence policy development and industry standards related to transportation safety.
- Develop and oversee a comprehensive safety governance framework for operations, encompassing policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance.
- Engage and lead the safety governance forums
Preferred qualifications
- 10 years of experience in transportation safety management or a similar role.
- Bachelors in Engineering / Technology preferably Mechanical engineering.
- Deep understanding of safety regulations, standards, and best practices applicable to Autonomous vehicle transportation operations
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent safety certification. Exposure to Sword of Honor is most preferred
- Experience as Internal Auditor / Certification on ISO 9001 QMS and ISO 14001 EHS
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts and present at all levels within the organisation
- Outstanding leadership / organisational skills with a track record of managing complex functional interactions
- Ability to scale-up the processes, standardize across multiple sites
- Right to work in the United States of America.
This role will report to the national core operational leader, while closely working with several functional heads of the project.
