Job Summary:
- Field Quality Auditor would do the physical field Audits of all scopes for acceptance team within the given market as per the given guidelines and share the quality report with the detailed findings and proposed corrective actions , if any
Key Responsibilities:
- Actual physical audit at the location
- Field quality operators would perform similar tasks to the desk auditors but in the field, including understanding photo codes, identifying flags, and reporting findings to the acceptance team.
- Conduct comprehensive field audits of Google Fiber Standards to verify compliance with design specifications, company policies, and industry codes. (Field auditors would need to use hand tools & appropriate light level meter to check light levels and depth, and verify that installations meet standards.
- Inspect physical installation of aerial, buried, and underground facilities , ensuring the use of proper materials, methods, and installation standards..
- Document and photograph the state of completed and in-progress installations, noting any deviations, defects, or safety concerns.
- Evaluate the quality of fiber connections, including splicing, termination, and enclosure practices, to ensure low-loss and high-reliability performance.
- Perform on-site testing, such as optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) and light source/power meter assessments, to confirm signal integrity and installation quality.
- Review and verify accurate placement and labeling of network elements, demarcation points, and customer interfaces.
- Assess the restoration of property and landscape following installation, ensuring minimal disruption and compliance with customer agreements.
- Generate detailed audit reports with photographic evidence, measurements, and recommendations for corrective actions if required.
- Communicate audit findings to required POC , GVMs, supervisors, and project managers, offering guidance and training to address deficiencies and improve future performance.
- Assist in the development and revision of quality assurance checklists, installation guidelines, and training materials.
- Remain current with industry best practices, technologies, and regulatory changes affecting fiber optic deployment.
- Track and report on recurring issues, and contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
- Align on the sample sites to be visited and route plan /sequence as per the aligned criteria
Skillset & Qualifications Required:
- Understanding of the telecom and Fiber domain
- Experience in doing quality audits in field for telecom sector
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in telecommunications, electronics, or related field preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in fiber optic installation, field auditing, or telecommunications quality assurance.
- Industry certifications such as FOA CFOT (Certified Fiber Optic Technician), ETA Fiber Optics Installer, or equivalent are highly valued.
- Strong working knowledge of fiber optic cables, splicing, connectors, OTDR operation, and related test equipment.
- Familiarity with construction practices for aerial, buried, and underground installations, including National Electrical Code (NEC) and OSHA safety standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to recognize non-conformities and propose practical solutions.
- Competence in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and work orders.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear reports and interact with diverse field teams and customers.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and traveling frequently to job sites.
- Proficient with computers and mobile devices, including basic use of surveying, mapping, and reporting software.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to critically evaluate complex installations and diagnose issues efficiently.
- Technical Expertise: Good understanding of fiber optic technology, installation methods, and testing procedures.
- Communication: Clear and respectful communication with Project Managers, installation teams, management, and customers (if required)
- Problem-Solving: Resourceful in identifying solutions and supporting continuous improvement in installation quality.
- Adaptability: Comfortable navigating changing priorities and field conditions
