Job Title: Autonomous Vehicle Operator
Position Type: Full Time
Compensation: $25/hr
Position Summary:
As an Autonomous Vehicle Operator, you will be responsible for operating and assessing a self-driving vehicle engaged in autonomous mode. You will be collecting autonomous-driving, manual-driving, and mapping data, as well as providing feedback to the appropriate teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate vehicles alone or with a co-driver for 6-8 hours a day
- Monitor multiple software systems with continuous focus
- Operate vehicles on various surfaces and in varying environments
- Maintain a high standard of safety both inside and outside of the vehicle
- Demonstrate situational awareness and adaptability to environmental changes
- Communicate professionally with management, engineers, and the public, serving as a liaison for the Project’s technology
Skills & Abilities:
- Proficiency in parallel parking
- Familiarity with touchscreen smartphones, laptop computers, and communication applications
- Strong attention to detail and ability to articulate thoughts concisely
- Ability to adapt to new technologies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple technologies simultaneously
- Willingness to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings, overnights, and weekends
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
- Self-motivated and good judgment in fast-paced, high stress environments
Required Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Must have a valid United States driver’s license
- Must be able to pass a drug test
- Must have a clean Motor Vehicle Record
- Must have open availability
- Must live within 45 minutes of Washington D.C.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to sit in a vehicle for 6-8 hours a day
- Must be well-rested and prepared to drive daily
- Must report to work with a 0.0 blood alcohol level daily
- Must be able to crouch, stoop, bend, and kneel
- Must be able to move objects up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to push/pull
- Must be able to switch between standing and sitting
- Conditions will be both inside and outside
