Job Summary
The Baler and Compactor Installer is responsible for the professional installation, setup, startup, inspection, and basic servicing of vertical balers, stationary compactors, and self‑contained compactors at customer sites. This role involves strong mechanical aptitude, electrical and hydraulic knowledge, adherence to safety standards, and a customer‑focused mindset.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, assemble, and commission balers and compactors according to manufacturer specifications and job site requirements
- Perform mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical hookups
- Inspect job sites prior to installation to verify access, power availability, clearances, and anchoring requirements
- Test installed equipment to ensure safe and proper operation
- Diagnose and correct installation‑related issues
- Perform minor service work and adjustments during installation or follow‑up visits
- Train customers on safe operation and basic maintenance of equipment
- Complete required installation reports, service documentation, and safety checklists
- Maintain company tools, vehicle, and equipment in safe working condition
- Follow all OSHA, company, and customer site safety policies
- Communicate clearly with customers, dispatch, and management regarding job status and concerns
- Travel to customer locations in WI, including occasional overnight stays for installs
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Mechanical aptitude
- Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Welding or fabrication experience
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass background check and/or drug screening if required
Preferred Qualifications
- Electrical experience with 208/230/460V three‑phase systems
- Forklift, crane, or rigging experience
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Working knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, and schematics
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend, climb
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
Work Environment
- Industrial facilities, warehouses, retail locations, and outdoor installations
- Exposure to noise, dust, heavy machinery, and varying temperatures
Pay: From $19.00 per hour
