Accurate Metal Machining, Inc. (AMMI) is a precision machining company headquartered in Painesville, Ohio, serving aerospace, defense, and industrial markets. Our Polishers turn good parts into great ones by smoothing and polishing the surfaces our customers care about most.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Polisher sets up and operates polishing equipment to remove excess material and smooth and polish internal and external surfaces. You'll fixture parts, position tooling, monitor the machine, and inspect your work between polishing sequences to verify quality.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow the router for specific processing instructions
- Perform manual and automatic polishing of ID and OD surfaces
- Fixture parts and position tooling for proper polishing
- Inspect parts using gauges, microscopes, and a surface analyzer to verify quality
- Watch gauges, dials, and other indicators to make sure the machine and controls are working properly
- Wash parts between polishing sequences and inspect them before moving to the next operation
- Maintain stock of tooling and materials and report inventory needs to the supervisor
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required:
- Basic math, English, and spelling skills
- Basic blueprint reading
- Manual dexterity and the ability to do physical work that requires considerable use of hands and arms
- Knowledge of polishing lathes, mills, and associated tooling
