The Team You Will Be Joining
- Join a well-established, family-owned commercial real estate investment and development firm headquartered in Charlotte, with decades of success
- Operate within a flat, highly collaborative environment, partnering directly with development managers, construction leadership, design teams, finance, ownership, and external business partners.
- Serve as the Company's primary in-house legal resource, providing practical counsel on acquisitions, dispositions, financing, leasing, development projects, and risk management initiatives.
- Work closely with executive leadership and ownership to support strategic growth while reducing reliance on outside counsel and creating greater efficiency across the organization.
- A highly visible opportunity to establish and grow the in-house legal function for a successful and expanding real estate organization.
- Direct access to ownership and executive leadership with meaningful influence on business decisions, transaction structure, and risk management strategy.
- The ability to work across a diverse portfolio of commercial real estate transactions, development projects, financing arrangements, and operational matters.
- Serves as the Company's primary legal advisor, helping leadership navigate complex business decisions while balancing risk management and transaction execution.
- Provides in-house legal expertise across acquisitions, dispositions, development projects, financing transactions, leasing activities, entity management, and corporate governance matters.
- Reduces dependence on outside counsel by handling a significant portion of legal work internally, creating both cost savings and greater operational efficiency.
- Partners with ownership and business leaders to proactively identify risks, negotiate favorable agreements, and support the Company's continued growth strategy.
- Onsite, five days per week in the SouthPark area of Charlotte, NC.
- Licensed to practice law in North Carolina
- 5 years of experience focused on commercial real estate law.
- Experience handling acquisitions, dispositions, financing transactions, leasing, development agreements, easements, title matters, and entity structuring.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and contract review experience.
- Ability to provide practical business-oriented legal advice rather than purely technical legal guidance.
- Demonstrated experience working directly with executives, business leaders, lenders, developers, and external counsel.
- Strong commercial judgment with the ability to balance legal protection and business objectives.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate independently as an in-house legal resource.
