Job Summary
Accounting firm seeking Controller. The Controller serves as a key financial leader within the firm, responsible for overseeing client financial management and internal accounting operations. This position plays a central role in maintaining accurate financial reporting, ensuring compliance within accounting standards, consulting for clients, and supporting strategic decision making for both clients and the firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Oversight and Reporting: Monitormonth-end closing processes and prepare accurate financial statements. Analyze client cash flow and financial performance and provide insights to support strategic planning and management initiatives.
- Accounting Operations and Compliance: Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including bookkeeping, reconciliations, and adherence to GAAP and regulatory standards. Implement and maintain best practices for accounting efficiency and accuracy.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the development and monitoring of budgets, forecasts, and financial performance metrics.
- Process Improvement: Enhance efficiencies in accounting procedures and financial reporting.
- Mentorship & Leadership: Support and offer guidance to our management team.
- Collaboration: Partner with management, tax and bookkeeping team to strengthen client relationships and deliver financial solutions.
- Audit and Financial Assurance: Lead Audit preparation for client accounts. Serve as primary point of contact for external auditors and regulatory bodies.
- Regional Cost Reporting for Care Homes: Manage cost reporting process for care home clients, ensuring accurate, timely and compliant submission of regional reports.
- Tax Return Review: Collaborate with tax department to review business and client tax returns for accuracy and consistency with financial statements and tax documents. Identify discrepancies, ensure compliance and support team in timely filings.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.
- CPA licensure required to oversee financial reporting accuracy, audit readiness, and compliance initiatives
- 10 years of experience preferred in a senior accounting or financial leadership role.
- Deep understanding of financial data analysis and reporting.
- Strong systems and excel skills. Comfortable using new technologies.
- Solid communication, technology and analytical skills.
- Demonstrates a strong management foundation and a proven ability to mentor and develop team members.
- Deep knowledge of GAAP, with the ability to ensure accurate, compliant financial reporting.
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to manage workloads efficiently and ability to pursue multiple priorities.
