Job Description
Responsible for system/software safety across the full development lifecycle, ensuring compliance with civil and defense safety standards. Involves hazard identification, structured safety analyses, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to resolve complex system issues.
Skills Required
- Experience with software safety standards (DO-178C, MIL-STD-822, AMCOM385-17, Joint Software Safety Engineering Handbook)
- Familiarity with SAE ARP-4761, ARP-4754, and MIL-STD-882 processes
- Direct experience in SAE ARP4761 analyses: AFHA/SFHA, PASA/PSSA/ASA/SSA, PRA, ZSA, CMA
- Direct experience in MIL-STD-882 analyses: PHA, O&SHA, HHA, SHA/SSHA, Hazardous Materials, FMECA, SAR
- MBSE/MBSA experience or training preferred
- Strong analytical/problem-solving skills, cross-functional collaboration
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Technical/functional understanding of aircraft systems
- 5 years on aircraft/system development or sustainment programs with structured safety processes
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM (related military/aviator/mechanic qualifications considered)
- Advanced degrees count as additional experience
- Eligible for Secret Security Clearance
