- Previous automotive experience required.
- Previous management experience, preferably in automotive.
- Cash handling experience preferred.
Some common responsibilities of a service advisor/service manager include:
- Greet customers and assess their vehicle service needs.
- Providing recommendations for necessary repairs and maintenance.
- Estimating costs for services and obtaining customer approval.
- Scheduling service appointments and coordinating with the service department.
- Keeping customers informed of the status of their vehicle and any delays.
- Explaining the work performed and answering any questions or concerns.
- Selling additional services or products that may benefit the customer.
- Handling customer complaints and ensuring their satisfaction.
- Maintaining accurate records of customer interactions and service history.
- Collaborating with the service team to ensure efficient and timely service delivery.
- Working with outside vendors.
- Receiving, ordering, adjusting, and controlling inventory.
- Monitor, dispatch, and adjust workflow based on volume and technician availability.
A successful service advisor/service manager should have excellent communication and customer service skills. Additionally, organizational abilities and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential for this role.
