Job Title: Senior Direct Support Professional Reports To: Program Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Classification: Full-Time

Position Overview: The Senior Direct Support Professional (Senior DSP) at AccessStar Community Living Services plays a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being and quality of life for individuals with intellectual disabilities. This position involves flexible scheduling, acting as a mentor to DSP staff, and providing hands-on training. The Senior DSP assists with scheduling and offers coverage during staffing shortages or special events, ensuring the health and safety of all individuals supported.

Key Responsibilities:

Scheduling and Coordination:

· Collaborate with the House Manager to prepare and update staff schedules, prioritizing individual needs and minimizing overtime.

· Facilitate grocery shopping, encouraging individual participation in meal planning and skill-building activities within budget constraints.

· Schedule and accompany individuals to medical and dental appointments as needed.

· Transport individuals to various appointments, events, and activities as required.

Training and Support:

· Works side by side with DSPs to provide guidance and training on ISPs, Documentation, and other work elements that will improve overall quality of the program.

· Provides input for the development of the annual Individual Service Plan (ISP) for each individual supported, writing, typing or proof-reading documents as needed.

· Monitors PHS weekly for any issues in documentation and brings them to the attention of the House Supervisor.

· Offer training and support in personal hygiene, housekeeping, meal preparation, communication, socialization, and community engagement.

Documentation and Reporting:

· Monitor documentation for accuracy and completeness, addressing any issues promptly.

· Maintain required documentation and records, including monthly and quarterly reports.

· Manage and document emergency situations, notifying appropriate staff.

 

Individual Support and Empowerment:

· Implements the particular requirements of the ISP on a daily basis.

· Ensure individuals supported have autonomy in daily choices and maintain a safe and clean living environment.

· Provide hands-on assistance and support to individuals with Intellectual Disabilities in activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, housekeeping, meal preparation, communication, socialization, and community engagement.

· Implement and document the criteria of behavioral support plans for individuals supported, participating in their development and adjustment as necessary.

· Encourage individuals supported to participate in social, educational, and recreational activities, maintaining an activities calendar.

· Ensures that grocery shopping is done in a manner that maximizes individual’s participation in meal planning and skill building to the extent possible

· Schedules, implements, and follows-up on medical and dental appointments/referrals, as required.

· Provides for the safety of the individuals supported by monitoring at all times per individual plan, and for the security of the home and by ensuring the home is clean and free from hazards, including removal of fallen tree limbs, leaves, snow, ice, objects on stairs, electrical cords, spills or other conditions that may present safety issues.

Relationship Management:

· Foster professional relationships with colleagues, families/guardians, and external parties.

· Report maintenance needs of the home to the Administrative Office.

· Procure necessary materials following established procedures.

Administrative Support:

· Assist in developing ISPs and implement their requirements on a daily basis.

· Facilitate grocery shopping, ensuring a comprehensive shopping list and adherence to budget.

· Requisition needed materials such as office supplies, stamps, latex gloves, etc., in accordance with established procedures.

· Transports in own vehicle or company vehicle, as necessary, the individual supported to and from medical and dental appointments and treatments, shopping

trips, recreational events, volunteer sites, community events, and scheduled classes.

Continuous Improvement:

· Provide input for the development of annual Individual Service Plans (ISP) for each individual supported.

· Address issues in documentation promptly to ensure quality standards are met.

· Attend relevant and scheduled staff meetings to stay updated and contribute to program improvement.

· Establishes and maintains cooperative and professional relationships other ACLS staff , with the families or guardians of the individuals supported, and appropriate interested outside parties.

· Reports need for painting and building or equipment repair of the home to the Administrative Office in accordance with established procedures.

· Performs other duties as directed.

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.

· Proven experience in administrative support roles, preferably in an office setting.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other office software.

· Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.

· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.

· Attention to detail and ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Reporting Structure: The Senior Direst Support Professional reports directly to the Program Manager and collaborates closely with other administrative staff members.
