Respiratory Therapist

Role Summary: The Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides advanced respiratory care to diagnose, evaluate, treat, and manage cardiopulmonary deficiencies within physician prescriptions.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests, including arterial gases, and troubleshoot equipment for optimal patient care.
• Administer medications safely, assess effects, and communicate patient progress to healthcare team.
• Monitor patient condition, collaborate with physicians and nurses, and provide patient and family education on self-care and wellness.
• Complete documentation accurately, manage supplies, and participate in quality and safety initiatives.
• Contribute to departmental improvements, act as a resource and mentor, and engage in research activities.
• May float to other departments and be on-call as needed.
  
  

Qualifications & Skills

• Graduate of an accredited NBRC-approved Respiratory Therapist program.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (RRT) and licensed in the practice state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; additional certifications such as PALS, ACLS, NRP required.
• Strong communication skills, manual dexterity, physical ability to lift and move patients and equipment, and the capacity to work standing for extended periods.
  
  

Additional Details: This role is benefits eligible, with night shifts and a 36-hour work week. It involves patient care in a busy hospital setting, emphasizing safety, quality, and teamwork.
