Tooling Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Tooling Specialist to oversee tooling processes and ensure optimal support for manufacturing operations. In this role, you will manage tooling orders, maintain inventory, and troubleshoot tooling issues, leveraging your expertise in CNC machining and blueprint reading to drive continuous improvements. Your contributions will be vital in maintaining production efficiency and quality.

• Manage the placement of tooling orders and related components, including securing quotes as needed.
• Maintain a precise inventory of tooling, proactively reordering replacements to avoid production delays.
• Monitor tool quality by maintaining close contact with manufacturing teams, addressing concerns promptly.
• Facilitate problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes.
• Fabricate and repair jigs, fixtures, and verification tools to support manufacturing requirements.
• Ensure the readiness of tools and dies for production, conducting inspections as necessary.
• Support training efforts to enhance the skills and knowledge of team members.
• Contribute to daily and monthly preventative maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability.

Required Skills

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Proficiency in using manual tool room equipment.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001/IATF16949/ISO14001 standards.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

Preferred Skills

• Minimum two (2) years of experience in tooling development, preferably with powder metal tooling.
• Familiarity with CNC mill operations and preparing details for CNC machines.
• Experience with drill press and sawing operations.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel.
• Experience with material handling, including hazardous materials.
• Knowledge of machine safety, personal protective equipment, and lockout/tagout procedures.
