Job Description:
The Ambulatory Care RN provides outpatient nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents, including assessment, triage, immunizations, and medication administration. The nurse assists with minor procedures, manages common pediatric conditions, collaborates with providers, supports care coordination, and ensures accurate documentation and patient education in a fast-paced clinic setting.
Ambulatory Care RN β Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments, obtain medical histories, and monitor vital signs.
- Administer medications, vaccines, injections, and IV therapies as ordered.
- Assist with minor procedures and provide wound care, specimen collection, and diagnostic support.
- Triage patients, identify urgent symptoms, and respond to emergencies following clinic protocols.
- Coordinate care with providers and interdisciplinary teams to ensure smooth clinic flow.
- Manage referrals, diagnostic testing, follow-up appointments, and patient care transitions.
- Educate patients on self-care, medications, chronic disease management, and preventive health.
- Document all assessments, treatments, and communications in the electronic health record.
- Adhere to infection control guidelines, safety standards, and clinic policies.
- Participate in daily huddles, quality improvement activities, and support overall clinic operations.
