Key Responsibilities
- Lead assigned engineering projects and provide technical support to the Outage & Project Management (O&PM) team and other Energy Supply personnel.
- Serve as backup to the Lead Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer when required.
- Oversee project execution to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, project plans, manufacturer requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Monitor and coordinate daily activities of contractors, construction teams, outage coordinators, station planners, and third-party vendors.
- Review and coordinate engineering documentation from consulting engineers and equipment suppliers, ensuring proper issuance, maintenance, and permanent record retention.
- Support development of project scopes, schedules, and cost estimates.
- Facilitate project meetings and conference calls to ensure milestones, schedules, and budgets remain on track.
- Troubleshoot plant operations and maintenance (O&M) issues and support power generation facilities in identifying and resolving process control challenges.
- Provide plant support during outages and critical operational periods as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Strong technical knowledge in controls and process engineering
- Ability to execute complex engineering assignments and develop improved technical procedures
- Experience conducting engineering studies, reports, and technical analyses
- Ability to coordinate external consultants and contractors on complex projects
Experience Requirements
Engineer II
- Minimum 4 years of engineering experience
- Background in heavy industry or utility environments
- Experience in project engineering and/or plant maintenance
Engineer III
- Minimum 8 years of engineering experience
- Background in heavy industry or utility environments
- Experience in project engineering and/or plant maintenance
Preferred:
- 8 years working in utility generating facilities or engineering firms supporting power generation facilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supervising contractors and/or cooperative education students
- Passed the Florida Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida
- Knowledge of company engineering policies and procedures
- Strong proficiency with:
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- OSI PI Historian
- Advanced project engineering expertise in control/process systems
Work Environment
- Up to 10% travel, including overnight and extended assignments
- Frequent travel between office and power station locations
- Limited international travel may be required
- Work in industrial settings including:
- Heights
- Confined spaces
- Outdoor environments (hot, humid, wet, or cold conditions)
- Occasional overtime, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolding
- Use of PPE including:
- Safety harnesses
- Respiratory protection
- Industrial safety equipment
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Comfortable working in high-noise, dusty, humid environments
- Ability to crawl into and out of confined spaces
