Job Summary
The Finance Manager supports the financial operations of hotel and hospitality properties by overseeing accounting functions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, managing financial reporting, and supporting tax and audit requirements. This role works closely with hotel management and corporate finance to maintain accurate financial records and improve operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Controller in managing day-to-day accounting operations for hotel properties, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management.
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Perform financial analysis, variance analysis, and budgeting/forecasting to support hotel management decision-making.
- Prepare and submit required tax filings, including sales tax, occupancy tax, and other hospitality-related taxes, ensuring timely and accurate compliance.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to audit inquiries.
- Monitor and enforce internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures specific to hotel operations.
- Oversee revenue recognition, room revenue, food & beverage revenue, and other hospitality-specific income streams.
- Collaborate with department heads to ensure accurate financial reporting and cost control.
- Assist in system implementations, upgrades, and process improvements related to hotel accounting and financial reporting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a similar accounting or finance role, preferably within the hospitality or hotel industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, GAAP, and financial analysis.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office (Excel).
- Experience with hotel management systems (PMS) and hotel accounting software is a strong plus, including M3, ADP, and Oracle.
- Must have strong experience preparing and filing sales tax and occupancy tax returns.
