Job Summary

The Offshore Superintendent is responsible for coordinating all offshore maintenance scopes of work and ensuring adherence to specification and code requirements. This role involves overseeing daily operations, assigning tasks, maintaining productivity and quality, and ensuring that all work is executed in compliance with company policies and client expectations. Responsibilities

  • Participate in and lead daily JSA meetings and JSA development for all tasks.
  • Ensure awareness of and response to Time Out or Stop Work issues.
  • Coordinate pipe, vessel, and package fabrication offshore.
  • Ensure Quality Control tasks (dimensional checks, heat #s, welder stencils, etc.) are completed by foremen and shop personnel.
  • Approve and track personnel time daily.
  • Work with the Division Manager to improve fabrication efficiency and quality.
  • Supervise all job duties and ensure safe work practices.
  • Submit completed fitter drawings to QA/QC within 24 hours of fabrication completion.
  • Serve as main point of contact for project updates, clarifications, and coordination.
  • Communicate material needs to project managers and company representatives.
  • Maintain equipment and communicate failures or needs to company representative.
  • Distribute fabrication drawings and communicate specific requirements.
  • Resolve project workload conflicts with Division Manager and Company Rep.
  • Coordinate vessel fabrication sequence and monitor housekeeping standards.
  • Monitor personnel schedules including lunch and break times.
  • Oversee package assembly tasks (valves, instruments, pumps, motors, handrails, etc.).
  • Ensure installation of protective blinds/plugs per project requirements.
  • Participate in bid scope reviews and project kick-offs.
  • Maintain consumable inventory (supplies and gases).
  • Enforce disciplinary actions when necessary regarding performance and policy adherence.
  • Complete NCR/CAR investigations and submit reports within 24 hours.
  • Report significant quality or performance issues to Shop Superintendent and Division Manager.
  • Promote a positive work environment and provide excellent internal and external customer service.

Experience & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fabrication, personnel supervision, and management.
  • Must have 5 years of experience as an Offshore Superintendent or in a similar role.
  • Strong reading comprehension for technical documents, safety regulations, assembly instructions, and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, especially with customers, clients, and official site visitors.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to write professional reports and correspondence to vendors and clients.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Occasionally pull, push, carry, or lift tools, equipment, or materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional bending, squatting, or crouching.
  • Frequent handling of tools, equipment, or materials.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions including cold, heat, and humidity.
  • May operate electric, gas, and pneumatic hand and power tools.
  • Climb and maintain balance on framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolding.

  • Conduct periodic quality assessments of HSE processes to enhance personal coaching and mentoring effectiveness and demonstrate ownership in the successful implementation of HSE programs.
