Academie Da Vinci Charter School for the Arts and Technology in Dunedin, Florida is an A rated School of Excellence with a K-8 grade student body of approx. 364 students.
ADV is seeking a Part-time ESE Teacher. Florida certification required (or eligible for certification - Letter of Eligibility) in the area of ESE.
JOB DESCRIPTION: This employee is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program to meet the needs of children identified as eligible for exceptional student education services and meeting the duties of teaching as outlined in laws and policies.
DUTIES of this position include but are not limited to:
1. Planning:
a. Designing the exceptional student education program so that it is consistent with the total educational philosophy and goals of the district and the individual education plan.
b. Continuing professional growth through educational meetings, visiting related facilities, reading professional literature, and exchanging ideas among the district staff.
c. Working in coordination with other ESE teachers and ESE Coordinators in planning and developing the program.
2. Programming:
a. Assistance in preparing, implementing, and evaluating an annual educational plan for each student based on individually assessed needs in accordance with district procedures.
b. Using appropriate assessment instruments pertinent to areas of instruction.
c. Preparing lesson plans for each student.
d. Providing appropriate schedules for exceptional students, involving school personnel as required.
e. Seeking a variety of services through community resources and agencies to meet the needs of exceptional students.
f. Providing specialized instructional techniques through individual or group sessions designed to meet the needs of the students.
g. Participating in the in-school staffing and screening processes as appropriate.
h. Participating on evaluation teams for early childhood varying exceptionality students as appropriate.
i. Cooperating with school personnel in coordinating ESE services within the school.
j. Inform classroom teachers of the goals and objectives of the student's IEP's and ways of achieving their goals in the school setting.
k. Conferring with other teachers concerning any educational needs of students identified as eligible for exceptional student education services.
3. Reporting:
a. Ensuring that each student in the program has necessary evaluation records in his/her permanent folder.
b. Furnishing the school administration with current student schedules.
c. Completing progress reports for each student in the program.
d. Supplying progress reports to school personnel and parents as necessary and requested.
e. Completing reports for appropriate local and state educational agencies.
f. Referring those students who require further evaluation or follow-up services to the appropriate school personnel or community agencies.
g. Other responsibilities as directed by his/her immediate supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Holds, or is eligible for, a valid regular Florida Teaching Certificate for the level and subject area in which he/she is to work.
