HVAC Installation Apprentice

Position Summary

The HVAC Installation Apprentice is responsible for assisting experienced HVAC installers with the safe and efficient installation of residential and light commercial heating and cooling systems. This position is designed for an individual who is eager to learn the HVAC trade, develop technical skills, and grow into a qualified HVAC installer.

The ideal candidate is dependable, mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, and willing to work hard while learning proper installation techniques, industry standards, and company procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Installation Support

• Assist lead installers with installation of HVAC equipment including air conditioners, heat pumps, furnaces, air handlers, duct systems, and related components.
• Load, unload, organize, and maintain tools, equipment, and materials needed for installation projects.
• Assist with setting equipment, running refrigerant lines, installing ductwork, electrical components, drain lines, and accessories under supervision.
• Properly handle and protect customer property while performing installation work.
• Maintain a clean and organized job site throughout the installation process.

Training & Skill Development

• Learn HVAC installation procedures, safety practices, and company standards.
• Develop knowledge of HVAC systems, tools, materials, and installation techniques.
• Participate in company training, manufacturer training, and hands-on learning opportunities.
• Work toward obtaining required certifications and licenses as applicable.
• Ask questions and actively seek opportunities to improve skills and knowledge.

Safety & Quality Standards

• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA guidelines.
• Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Follow installation checklists and quality control procedures.
• Identify and report potential safety hazards or installation concerns.
• Perform work with attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Customer Service

• Maintain a professional appearance and attitude while working in customers’ homes and businesses.
• Communicate respectfully with customers and team members.
• Protect customer belongings and maintain a clean workspace.
• Represent the company’s values and reputation in the field.

Qualifications

Required:

• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work well with a team.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lift and carry HVAC equipment and materials.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to work in hot, cold, and physically demanding environments.

Preferred:

• Previous construction, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC experience.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools.
• EPA certification or willingness to obtain certification.
• Experience working in residential construction environments.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to climb ladders and work in attics, crawl spaces, and confined areas.
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work overhead for extended periods.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Pay: $15.00 - $24.00 per hour
