Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Quality Control Specialist to join our team on a part-time basis. This is a hands-on role suited for a professional with a solid background in aerospace or defense hardware inspection — someone who can hit the ground running, uphold our rigorous quality standards, and grow with us as the business expands.
Schedule and hours are flexible and negotiable. This role also offers a pathway into expanded responsibilities including procurement support and customer-facing sales positions for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform incoming and outgoing inspections of aerospace/defense hardware to customer, contractual, and regulatory specifications.
• Read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Document inspection results, maintain quality records, and generate nonconformance reports (NCRs) as needed.
• Conduct First Article Inspection when required
• Verify compliance with applicable standards (AN, AS, MS, NAS, MIL-SPEC) and customer-specific requirements.
• Inspect and evaluate hardware subjected to secondary operations including drilling, captivation, cut-downs, grinding, and plating.
• Coordinate with procurement and operations to resolve quality issues efficiently.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and internal quality system maintenance.
• Assist with packing and shipping verification to ensure products meet customer and contractual requirements.
Required Qualifications
• Demonstrated experience in quality control or quality assurance within an aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency reading and interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
• Working knowledge of aerospace/defense hardware standards: AN, AS, MS, NAS, and MIL-SPEC fasteners.
• Familiarity with inspection tools and measurement equipment (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent documentation habits and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with secondary operations: drilling, captivation, cut-downs, grinding, surface plating.
• Familiarity with DIBBS, government procurement platforms, or defense supply chain processes.
• AS9120, AS9100, or ISO 9001 quality system experience a plus.
• Prior experience at the fastener distributor or defense hardware supplier preferred.
