Abundant Life Christian Academy – Princeton, Texas

Pay: $18.00–$20.00 per hour, based on experience and qualificationsJob Type: Full-timeSchedule: Monday–Friday; approximately 40 hours per week

About Us

Abundant Life Christian Academy is a small, faith-based childcare center serving children from infancy through Kinder Prep. We are looking for an experienced, dependable and confident Assistant Director/On-Site Administrator who can oversee the school’s daily operations and provide strong leadership to our teachers and staff.

This is not simply a front-desk position. We need someone who can take ownership of the building, solve problems, support staff, communicate professionally with families and help ensure the school remains organized, safe and compliant.

Position Overview

The Assistant Director/On-Site Administrator will manage the school’s daily operations when the owner/director is not on-site. The right candidate will be calm under pressure, highly organized, knowledgeable about Texas childcare standards and capable of leading a team with professionalism and accountability.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee the school’s daily operations and ensure classrooms run smoothly
  • Supervise, support and hold teachers accountable
  • Create and adjust staff schedules to maintain proper classroom ratios
  • Designate classroom coverage and step into a classroom when necessary
  • Ensure staff follow Texas Child Care Licensing Minimum Standards
  • Monitor attendance, staff punctuality and employee performance
  • Conduct daily classroom and facility checks
  • Review parent communication, classroom updates and student documentation
  • Address routine parent questions and concerns professionally
  • Conduct school tours and follow up with prospective families
  • Assist with enrollment paperwork and new-family onboarding
  • Monitor the Playground communication app and classroom photo requirements
  • Help maintain employee, student, training and licensing records
  • Assist with staff orientation, coaching and training
  • Coordinate school events, programs and special activities
  • Communicate important operational concerns to the owner/director
  • Maintain confidentiality and model professional behavior
  • Help promote a positive, organized and faith-centered school culture
  • Serve as the designated person in charge when the director is away

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least two years of experience in a licensed childcare center
  • At least one year of childcare leadership, administrative or supervisory experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of Texas Child Care Licensing Minimum Standards
  • Must pass all required background checks
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain it
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
  • Comfortable using email, childcare apps and basic computer programs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to handle confidential information and difficult conversations professionally
  • Able to work independently and make sound operational decisions
  • Willing and able to assist in classrooms when needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current Texas Child-Care Center Director’s Certificate or ability to qualify
  • Child Development Associate credential, college coursework or degree in early childhood education, child development or business management
  • Previous experience with childcare licensing inspections
  • Experience with enrollment, tours, staff scheduling and parent relations
  • Experience working in a Christian or faith-based childcare program

The Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate is a strong but compassionate leader who does not need constant supervision. This person notices problems, takes initiative and follows through. They should be comfortable correcting staff respectfully, communicating with families and managing the building during the director’s absence.

We are looking for someone who wants to become a trusted and important part of our school—not someone seeking only a temporary front-office position.

Compensation

Starting pay is $18.00–$20.00 per hour, depending on experience, education and director qualifications. Performance and compensation will be reviewed after the first 90 days.

Abundant Life Christian Academy is an equal opportunity employer. Employment is contingent upon completion of all required background checks and childcare licensing requirements.
