POSITION SUMMARY
Full Time, Non-Exempt, Monday - Friday 12PM-8:30PM, evening shift & some weekends as needed.
Location :On-site, Corona, CA
The Food Safety Quality Assurance “QA” Technician is responsible for performing all duties established within both the company and QA safety guidelines. Duties include observing production runs; intervening when deviation occurs, reporting deviation to QA Manager, documenting findings, and acting as required. Additionally, this role will enforce GMPs, conduct ingredient, packaging, and finished product quality checks, and calibrate specified equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Report all deviations from Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards, and specification requirements immediately to the QA Manager.
- Follow the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), SQF standards, and safety rules (including PPEs); enforce all these practices, standards, and rules with all employees.
- Conduct GMP inspections in all areas of production and warehouse. Ensure compliance with the Food Safety Plan, and document findings for corrective actions.
- Report all deviations from product specifications and parameters immediately to the QA Manager.
- Report unsafe work conditions to management in real time.
- Report any deficiencies that may pose a food safety threat to management as soon as they are observed.
- Verify the calibration of thermometers and scales in production areas.
- Perform and sign off on pre-operational inspection before production commences.
- Complete non-routine jobs as assigned by QA Manager or other management.
- Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work.
- Put products on hold with safety and quality issues. Follow hold procedure and complete all the required documentation regarding product hold and release process.
- Monitor cleaning and sanitation. Test strength of the cleaning chemicals.
- Conduct environmental swabs of equipment and production floor and drains.
- Collect samples of finished product and ingredients for testing.
- Monitor packaging area for presence of glass fragments.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to follow company policies, procedures/SOP, or work instructions.
- Proficient in Microsoft word, and excel
- Must have the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
- Demonstrate knowledgeof GMP and HACCP.
- Able to perform mathematical calculation including addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, ratios, and percentages.
- Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Must efficiently utilize time and be able to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Must be able to prioritize and handle multiple projects at the same time.
- Able to work independently or in a team environment.
- Able to frequently lift 20-40 lbs., manual dexterity with full range of motion for both hands and arms as required.
- Must use proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working in GMP areas in production.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- 1-2 years in Quality Control in a food, beverage, or dietary supplement facility.
- A 2-year degree in biological sciences or chemistry.
- Prior experience and/or training in Food Safety, GMP, and HACCP.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- US work authorization (Required).
- Successfully complete a background check.
