What are the responsibilities and job description for the Structural Engineer position at Abrazo Group?
Build real infrastructure. Own full-cycle impact.
Our client is a respected, fast-moving construction partner delivering complex building and infrastructure projects across the region. We're adding a Structural Engineer who wants responsibility, visibility, and the chance to influence projects from concept through completion.
This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in real-world engineering, not just behind a screen. You'll work closely with designers, architects, project managers, and field teams to ensure structures are safe, efficient, code-compliant, and built to last.
You'll coordinate crews, subcontractors, inspectors, safety requirements, and project schedules while ensuring all work complies with wastewater construction standards. If you've built or supervised wastewater facilities and want a leadership role with real impact, this is the ideal fit.
Responsibilities:
- Design and analyze structural systems for new buildings, renovations, and additions.
- Translate concepts into clear structural drawings, details, and construction documents.
- Partner with architects to align structural integrity with functional and aesthetic goals.
- Ensure all designs meet local, state, and national building codes and safety standards.
- Review loads, stresses, materials, and construction methods for durability and performance.
- Conduct site visits to verify construction aligns with approved designs.
- Identify risk early and proactively solve structural challenges.
- Prepare technical documentation, calculations, and compliance records.
- Support project timelines by working cross-functionally with internal teams.
Preferred Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Construction industry experience required.
- Professional Engineer license, or ability to obtain within one year.
- Strong proficiency in CAD and structural design analysis software.
- Solid understanding of building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Clear communicator who can explain technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
