General Job Description:
The Legal Clerk / Legal Administrator provides essential administrative and clerical support to attorneys and paralegals in a high-volume debt collection law firm. This role is critical for maintaining organized case files, managing court filings, and ensuring smooth operations within the office. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Case File & Document Management
· Maintain and organize electronic case files for collection accounts.
· Scan, index, and upload documents to case management systems.
· Assist with assembling trial, judgment, and garnishment packets.
Administrative Support
· Answer and direct incoming calls and emails from clients, courts, and vendors.
· Schedule appointments, hearings, and deadlines.
· Maintain office supplies and legal forms inventory.
Court & Vendor Liaison
· Submit documents to courts via electronic or physical filing.
· Communicate with process servers, court clerks, and other vendors to ensure timely service and filings.
· Track deadlines, confirmations, and responses to ensure compliance.
Data Entry & Reporting
· Enter case information and/or client data into case management software.
· Assist with generating reports on case status, collections, and account progress.
· Review account files for completeness and accuracy before submission to attorneys.
Education & Training:DUCATION & TRAINING
· High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or certificate in legal studies preferred.
· Prior legal or administrative experience is preferred.
· Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication.
· Proficiency in Microsoft and legal case management software (Cogent).
